11 Style Essentials You’ll Need This Winter
This autumn/winter will be (in fashion terms) the same as the last. Even though trends repeat each year, they update with either a new accessory or a new way of wearing something. This season sees both a tough and soft approach to style, adding different textures, here are the 11 fashionable essentials that you’ll need this winter to complete your outfit and how to style them:
1. A longline puffer jacket
Wearing one of these style puffer jackets will make you feel like you’re still in the comfort of your bed whilst being out and about in the cold. Make this jacket look stylish by wearing it zipped up with a crossbody bag or worn open with a thick knit jumper, jeans and heeled boots.

2. Comfy organic sweats
Why not be comfortable in the best and most environmentally friendly sweats you could wear. Treat yourself to some organic cotton basics. Brands like The Pangaia and The Colourful Standard amongst others are sustainable and use the highest quality organic cotton and recycled fibres and materials. Wear it as a set with a blazer to smarten it up or throw on an oversized long coat and trainers.

3. Crossbody bag
These bags have a new style standard, especially the boxy styles. With thanks to brands like Off White’s Binder clip bag, Jacquemus Chiquito bags and the recently popular Bottega Veneta Padded Cassette bag, these styles are the most convenient and practical (no cold hands whilst in use). These bags are most commonly worn high on the body. The size doesn’t matter, whether it’s a statement style or minimalist, make it the centre of your outfit by complimenting it with cute keychain accessories or a in a colour that matches your outfit.

4. Longline faux leather jacket
Faux leather longline jackets have been seen everywhere this season, mainly in black wet look or matte styles. Wear it in any colour as long as its within the tones of autumn (brown, beige, forest green, burgundy and black). Because it’s such a statement jacket, tone it down by wearing basics and trainers or wear it tied up at the waist with jeans and heels.

5. An oversized blazer
Oversized blazers are a major staple for anyone’s wardrobe, having one of these is just the same as needing to have a white t-shirt. Having a blazer that is slightly bigger than your normal size creates an effortless look to your outfit. Dress a blazer down with simple joggers or jeans and a hoodie or dressed it up with a dress or thigh high boots for that “fashionista look”.

6. Turtleneck jumper
This is another major essential to anyone, turtlenecks also known as polo necks are perfect to be worn with anything (one in every colour is great too). Wear it underneath a hoodie or sweatshirt, with any jacket or coat, under a t-shirt or casual dress. Chunky oversized knitted ones are the best for winter. Wear it with a silky slip skirt and chunky heel boots for daytime and for the evening add “barely there” high heels and a clutch bag.

7. Winter sun sunglasses
Sunglasses are not just for the summer; winter sun exists too plus when wearing a mask somehow dust seems to fly into our eyes more than before. Instead of the bright colours that you’re used to wearing, opt for dark shades (jet black and tortoise shell brown). Now to the shape, keep them cat eye, narrow or rectangular shaped. Make a statement by investing into a designer pair.

8. Chunky combat black boots
Combat boots have been around for a long time but then Prada released their Brushed Rois leather and nylon chunky boots for their F/W 19/20 collection. They soon became the most wanted pair of boots of the autumn were everywhere. Wear these with a girly outfit: skirt, cropped teddy jacket or denim jacket with a hoodie or wear a cropped blazer and tuck in your tailored trousers to add an edge to a suited outfit.

9. Faux leather leggings/trousers
These have come back for another season, the leggings, straight leg or the loose fit jogger styles are a must. Wear them with something oversized on top such as a hoodie, knitted jumper or tailored coat/blazer and style with minimal accessories.

10. Loose fit straight leg jeans
We want to remain comfortable so wearing a looser fit jean is a go-to. Keep them high waisted and straight/wide at the leg. The “no belt” look keeps it simple and wear with chunky style trainers, a cropped jumper and oversized coat.

11. Teddy/faux fur coat
Everyone’s favourite coat and a must have for the winter season. These must be worn a size or two bigger than your actual size to create the big cosy look. Wear with a hoodie and joggers or with jeans and a simple top. The main focus should be the coat, the classic browns, beige and mink colours are the favourites. However, if you like colour, go for brights like pink, orange or electric blue to stand out.
