Jammz, the hugest producer I personally know. Coldest beat maker in East London, the most versatile. Did you know Jammz can produce Afrobeats? About a year and a half ago, producer Toast and I seen it with our own eyes, when Dice Ailes from Toronto came down to visit London and link up with some of the best in Hackney. Those good «before pandemic» times.
Memories are great but are still better when you can see the work paying off. And Jammzy is one of those guys who you want to keep an eye on because you know he is always active and a bomb track (or two) will drop when you less expect it.

Let’s talk about Dark and Light, his latest single which is going to be one of my favourite tracks for a long time. Jammz knows how much I like a dark beat, and this track is a blow minding one. I went to visit him in studio on the night of the 26th of August when I just arrived from Mallorca, to see him and Toast do their thing as I used to be their local neighbour and I just missed their magic vibes. As soon as you enter the place you just know there is going to be quality sound coming through your ears. This is when I got gassed (as always) and I said «Jammz!! Please let’s make a video!! C’mon I’m inspired!» He asked when, then I said I was leaving back Spain in a week and then he said «Let me make a song, and will shoot!» God damn, next night at two o’clock in the morning I see a watsapp with a track, Dark & Light! JAMMZ WHEN ARE WE SHOOTING THEN! Had on repeat for a good hour before I could sleep.
And here you can see what happened after, one day after that:
What a night, the fun we had was also one we will remember! Shivz, Gesher and Monika, thank you for your motivation and help too. And because I know you guys want to know from this star, I asked a couple of questions we all want to know the answers.
Dark and Light feedback is been huge, Clash Magazine, Trench Trench Trench, Keepin It Grimy, GRM Daily, are some of the press platforms who gave their love to this tune. Also Youtube Music, Reprezent Radio, Crack Magazine and Vevo added the song to their playlists.

Dark and Light, your latest single, we can hear a different Jammz and deeper lyrics, what can you tell us about the inspiration for this?
To be honest, it was something I wrote off the cuff, because you’d asked me to help shoot a video, but at that moment I knew I couldn’t really write a song about just anything. I think I’m past that stage in my career now. I really wanted to promote the next batch of Warrior T-shirts I was about to put out – the dark and light edition. They reflect based on the perspective from which you view them. All of a sudden I had a subject – perspective. So I wrote about how people see an MC from different perspectives. What it looks like and what it actually is. Just my experiences really.

We want more now, when are we going to have more new Jammz, any album dropping soon?
At the time of writing another single has dropped from a joint project I have with Mayhem, Buggsy and Blay Vision called The Avengers LP. Put it this way, you’re going to see my name around consistently for a long while yet..
How has this evolution in the middle of the pandemic affected you when it comes to your music?
It allowed me to really discover my voice as an artist. It gave me time I didn’t have to really dive into my craft and find my voice. And to be honest, even then, there’s still more to be done, but overall I feel extremely comfortable with who I am as a person when I’m recording now, and I think it definitely shows in the music. It’s beginning to sound effortless now. I’m excited for everybody to hear. There’s a lot of subjects that I felt like I wasn’t able to cover before that I’m covering now, and it all feels super natural and not forced, which was my intention from the jump.
Is there any live event or performance we can catch you spitting bars for the rest of this year?
Of course there’s the Klueless Magazine party, and as well as that you can catch me in Birmingham on the 15th of October, and Norwich on the 5th of November. I’m active.

Where do we see Jammz in a 5 year time from now? Where does Jammz wants to be?
Telling stories across bigger more experimental formats.. film, theatre, art. I’ve always been a natural storyteller and I think the most natural extension of that is to add different elements until it looks unrecognisable to anything I’ve done before. I’m going to take everything I’ve learnt in music and bring that knowledge elsewhere…
Any collaborations coming up?
Loads.. but I won’t say too much. For now though, all I will say is The Avengers LP drops on October 22nd. You won’t be disappointed.. promise.
