BOBBLEHAUS SPRING/SUMMER 2023 RUNWAY PRESENTATION
NEW YORK FASHION WEEK
“Collection 04”
September 9, 2022, New York
BOBBLEHAUS – the New York based brand with a focus on fearless experimentation, sustainability, gender-inclusivity, BIPOC representation, and creative freedom – made their New York Fashion Week debut on September 8th, 2022 with a runway show at the brand’s new flagship location at 180 Orchard Street in the Lower East Side, Manhattan. Helmed by two Asian-American women, Ophelia Chen and Abi Lierheimer, BOBBLEHAUS is both a fashion brand and creative hub, bringing together diverse voices and global perspectives on culture, fashion, music, art, design, technology, and so much more. For Spring/Summer 2023, BOBBLEHAUS showcased a 25 look ready-to-wear collection titled “Collection 04”, made of all deadstock and sustainable fabrics, such as TENCEL, recycled cotton, and ripstop nylon. The collection was designed with gender-inclusive fits and silhouettes in mind.

This season, BOBBLEHAUS “Collection 04” serves as an ode to blooming and new life, representing the evolution of the brand. With this evolution comes a new introduction to the next era of BOBBLEHAUS and the brand’s ever-adapting lens. Since the brand’s start in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, BOBBLEHAUS founders Abi and Ophelia have experienced a tremendous amount of personal, professional, and creative growth – a progression that the two noted as largely unexpected, sometimes painful, but incredibly necessary for their brand and vision. With “Collection 04”, Abi and Ophelia showcase this stage of full blooming, accelerating quickly into the robust vision of the brand that they dreamed of since its start.

“Collection 04” features looks reflective of Abi and Ophelia’s active day to day lives in both Shanghai and New York. Drawing inspiration from streetstyle and functional sportswear pieces, the entire collection is meant to be mixed, matched, and layered with to create endless style combinations. The weather can change in a moment in Shanghai and New York, so the BOBBLEHAUS founders set out to create a collection that is easy to wear, with pieces that work seamlessly together and can be added or subtracted to a look with ease.

Key colours this season include soft lavender, bright oranges, and shades of green inspired by the changing spring season. BOBBLEHAUS also created custom prints featured throughout the collection including a wheatgrass print seen across mesh pieces and a blooming tulip print incorporated on the orange nylon and denim styles. Footwear this season was sponsored by Puma and featured a mix of the brand’s new Slipstream style along with their classic Suede sneakers.

The new BOBBLEHAUS retail flagship is a 2-floor retail space spanning over 4,000 square feet and includes the brand’s headquarters, studio, showroom, gallery & event space. BOBBLEHAUS focuses on experiential, concept-driven experiences that engage their local and global communities both online and offline. The store draws on bold and colourful aesthetics, designed cohesively with cutting-edge digital moments that set a new benchmark for retail design and experience. Immediately following the runway presentation, “Collection 04” was made available for purchase both at the brand’s flagship NYC store located at 180 Orchard Street, as well as at bobblehaus.com.

“We chose the lily as the symbol and motif throughout Collection 04. The lily百合 is representative of us, and our HAUS – we’re in constant stages of new life and blooming, continuously discovering deep parts of ourselves and sharing with the BOBBLEHAUS community as a way to become closer.
The lily 百合 flower, pronounced as bǎi hé in Chinese, has been considered a symbol of clarity, good fortune, and happiness – they’re special because lily flowers die, re-flower, and die again, signaling a new life, and blooming. Similar to a lotus, as a lily emerges from water or the soil and its bud begins to open, it symbolizes the cycle of life.” – Abi Lierheimer, Co-Founder & Creative Director.
