SHOES AND ACCESSORIES WE OBSESSED OVER THIS YEAR – BY SHENNELLE MCLUNE

23 noviembre, 2020 //  by Giselle Palou

This year we were introduced to the most crave worthy designer shoes and accessories that we just had to own. Stuck indoors due to the pandemic, social media was covered with influencers wearing them and making Reels of how to style them. Even when the shops were closed, that never stopped designers from releasing the most desirable shoes and accessories that would have us craving for more.

Designer AirPod cases

Earlier in the year we saw the rise of the designer AirPod cases. Brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada and Dior created the cutest tiny structured pouches that were seen to be worn around the neck, attached to a bag or belt and even worn around your forearm and wrist.

Nike X Designer Collaborations

There have been a few collaborations that Nike have done but this year there has been two popular ones. A partnership with Dior Men (Kim Jones) and sports brand Jordan for the Men’s Fall 2020 collection. This collaboration saw a limited edition of Nike Air Jordan 1 High & Low OG Dior trainers as well as a ready to wear collection and accessories. The high tops were created with the classic look of the original Air Jordan 1’s but had the iconic tick in the Dior old school repeat print all over.

Shortly after we saw Nike’s collaboration (for the second time round) with Stussy. In two colour ways, this collaboration showed the Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 Fossil trainer. The original colours were in an all-white with red and black detail and then an all-black with a white sole. However, on social media, a nude/sand colour was very popular (all sand with black details). Like any collaboration, they sold out immediately.

During Paris Fashion Week, Virgil showcased Off-White’s Fall 20/21 collection which introduced the collaboration with Nike Jordan for the Jordan Air 4 Retro Sail trainer. These were then released in the summer, being a cream, off white colour, they were a fashion blogger’s favourite.

Bottega Veneta

From soft and slouchy to weaved structured leather, BV released some great pieces this year that covered a fashion lover’s social media. First it was The Lido heel and Padded Lido heeled sandals in the summer and then The Chain Pouch bag with the square chunky gold chain shoulder strap. Towards the autumn, The Chain Cassette bag that comes in a range of colours (9 in total to be exact). Finally, we come to the chunky BV Tire and Lug boots, that has been the most popular boot of the autumn.

Prada

Prada released their Re-Nylon women’s collection and the Re-Edition 2005 bag earlier in the year which featured designs that mixed sportswear and luxury. This is where we saw the Nylon bucket hat with the plaque logo, the chunky combat boots and most of all the over the shoulder bag with the clip-on zip pouch.
