Peering into the Virtual World through the eyes of photographer Tim Copsey
There is a saying “Necessity is the Mother of Invention”, and the necessity for British fashion photographer Tim Copsey was to keep creating images during the global Pandemic Covid-19. This is where the technology of the internet and apps have come to the rescue. Tim was an early adopter of virtual photoshoots during 2020 and set up a number of different shoots both in the UK and in different countries around the world. He has used various methods and different software and a mixture of both phone cameras and DSLR cameras at the model location with tripods, etc. One thing has been consistent through all of the shoots, Tim still directs both the position of the camera and the model in the normal way, finally pressing the button to make the capture at the right moment.
The quantity and variety of virtual shoots led to Tim showing some of the work in an online virtual exhibition. The shoots sometimes take place with the model indoors and sometimes they are outdoors, the key being a strong internet connection. There are many more shoots planned in more locations around the world. Recently Tim teamed up with London Pacific Fashion Week to virtually shoot some of their models in the Pacific region and there are more to come.
